Cyprus Marriage Documentation

Documentation required for Weddings in Cyprus


Our Team in Beirut will assist with all documentation required and will ensure that this process runs smoothly and efficiently.

You will require the following :

  • Visa for entry into Cyprus
  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months
  • 2 passport photographs
  • Work Certificate / Bnk. statement

Lebanese Nationals will require :

  • A personal and family status certificate (not older than 5 months)These documents should be original, translated into English and
    stamped/legalized by the Lebanese Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs and the Cyprus Embassy.
  • An original True Copy of both your Personal and Family Status Certificates and stamped by the Lebanese Ministry of ForeignAffairs.

Foreign Nationals will require

  • A valid passport
  • A birth certificate translated into English and legalized by the Notary Public or an official authority of the Country of Origin.
  • A recent original certificate of celibacy translated into English and Legalized by the Notary Public or an official authority of the country
    of origin.  If it is issued by the Embassy of the county of origin of the interested person in Beirut, then it should be translated and
    stamped/legalized at the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cyprus Embassy in Beirut.

Further information………..

If Lebanese or Foreign nationals were previously married and divorced or their spouse is deceased, they should be able to provide their personal and Family Status Certificates as well as their Divorce or Death certificate, translated and stamped/legalized at the Lebanese Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs and the Cyprus Embassy (All documents should be original or a true copy of the original).

Once the above documents are ready, they should be presented to the Cyprus Embassy.  Documents for foreign nationals issued from their country of origin, do not need to be legalized by the Cyprus Embassy if issued in English.  Documents issued at the Embassy of the Foreigner in Beirut, should be presented to the Cyprus Embassy for legalization

Couples who are already married but wish to have a civil marriage as well should present the following :

1. A personal and Family Status Certificate
2. A Marriage Certificate
3. A certificate from their religious or other official authority stating their Status before their marriage (single, divorced, or widowed), translated Into English and legalized as above.


After the ceremony ……

Once the marriage is solemnized the following steps should be taken :

1. The Marriage Certificate should be stamped/legalized by the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. The Marriage Certificate should be stamped/legalized by the Lebanese Embassy in Nicosia
3. The Marriage Certificate may need to be apostilled and stamped by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order.
